- The event began with a warm welcome from the Convener, followed by the introduction of Dr. Chaitanya Lakkimsetti, Associate Professor, Sociology, Faculty Affiliate, Women’s and Gender Studies, Texas A&M University. Her lecture engaged participants with empirical research and theoretical arguments concerning sexual violence and the public demand for harsh punishment. She highlighted how such debates shape social attitudes, legal reforms, and the workings of the criminal justice system.
An interactive Q&A session allowed students to discuss themes of gender justice, activism, and public policy. The event concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude for her enriching contribution.
